Glyndia Taylor Johnsey

April 21, 1945 — February 11, 2023

Mrs. Glyndia Taylor Johnsey, loving wife of the late Roy Johnsey, entered into rest on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at her residence.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, February 15 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with the Rev. William Harrell officiating.


Throughout her life, Glyndia enjoyed traveling the world with her family as a military wife and mother. She developed breast cancer during her 40s, and after undergoing chemotherapy, successfully beat cancer. As a breast cancer survivor, Glyndia became actively involved in contributing to breast cancer awareness and research. Glyndia was also well known for her generosity by the students at Evans High School, where she retired. Her hobbies included gardening and tending to her roses, bird watching (she was especially fond of cardinals), and geology.


Glyndia is survived by her daughters; Pamela Jean Barnett and Donna Marie Johnsey, her grandchildren; Thomas Bron Barnett (Kayla), Brittany Nicole Mercer (Brandon), Jessica Lynn Graziano(Jeff) and Richard Thomas Riffe, her great grandchildren; Brandon Brassell, Matthew Galpin and Sophia Graziano, as well as her brother and sister; Leroy Taylor and Shirley Wilson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy, her son, Thomas and her long time best friend, Helen Quarles.
