October 24, 1924 — July 29, 2008

Augusta, GA---Mrs. Georleen Sale Wallace, wife of 59 years to her beloved husband, Wilmer Wallace departed from this life, to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel, with Dr. John P. Oliver officiating. Entombment will follow in the Westover Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Wallace was born, October 24, 1924 in Charleston, SC, where she lived prior to moving to Augusta, at age seventeen. Following graduation from Tubman High School, she went on to earn a degree in English and Elementary Education, at the University of Georgia. Upon graduation, she taught school at John Milledge, Monte Sano and T. Harry Garrett, before staying at home to raise her children. She was actively involved in the Children’s Ministry at First Presbyterian Church and later became a charter member of Christ Church, Presbyterian. She worked with Child Evangelism and continued to minister, to young children and adults throughout her life. She was a gifted teacher, who was happiest sharing her love of Jesus with children. Mrs. Wallace was deeply committed, to her family and she will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her parents, George Gilmer Sale and Kathleen Huiet Sale.

Survivors, other than her husband include; two daughters, Dianne Dome, Kay Patton, husband Larry and his son, Brant, granddaughters, Shannon Boudreaux and husband, Paul, Jessica Fuller and husband, Adam and four great grandchildren, her brother, Dr. Gilmer Sale and wife, Margaret, of Peachtree City, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Charles Bowen, George Bowen, John Clark, Dan Hollingsworth, Gene Gojda and Paul Volpitto.
