Mrs. Gene Goode Bailey

On July 16, 2010, Gene Goode Bailey, 84, went to her Redeemer. Mrs. Bailey was a cherished wife of sixty years of Henry W. Bailey, MD, and loving mother of Grace Bailey Heck (Mrs. Jeffrey James Heck) and Henry W. Bailey, Jr., of the Augusta area. She was a beloved grandmother of Eva Burneko Medin (Mrs. Christer Jan Medin), and great-grandmother of Nora Grace Medin, of Sweden.

The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Claiborne Goode, Jr., Mrs. Bailey was born in Augusta and graduated from Tubman High School and Agnes Scott College. She worked as Traffic Manager for George Weiss’s WBBQ radio station and office manager and bookkeeper for Dr. Bailey’s general surgery practice. In the community, she volunteered for the Junior League of Augusta and Boy Scouts of America. Her other memberships included the Camellia Garden Club, Richmond County Medical Alliance, and Augusta Country Club. She enjoyed china painting, bridge, cooking, and gardening. A charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Bailey also worshiped at Christ Church Presbyterian under the ministry of Dr. Gordon K. Reed, who will officiate her private graveside service with arrangements through Platt’s Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue.
