Mr. Franklin R. Morris, 82, beloved husband of 62 years of Cora Lee “Libby” Morris, entered into rest on Monday, January 4, 2016 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Pastor Sonny Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Morris was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He loved baseball and starred on the local American Legion team, before going on to play semi pro baseball for the Marion Marauders in the Class D minor league Tar Heel league in North Carolina. In his later years, he became a fan of the Harlem High School softball team, on which his granddaughter played. He was a beloved husband and devoted dad and granddad, and loved his family.

In addition to his wife Libby, he is survived by his son; Doug Morris (Maureen), his daughters; Susan Plemmons (Mike), Frankie Lewis (Conway) and Terry Summers (Mike), a brother; Albert Morris, Jr., his grandchildren; Michael E. Plemmons (Jennifer), Matthew Lewis (Jamie), Phillip Summers (Melissa Steves), Emily Morris, Madison Summers and Melanie Morris, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was excited about the impending arrival of his first great grandchild, Jimmy “Landon” Lewis, who is due in April.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Maude Harrell Morris, and his sisters, Maude Claxton and Ouida Regina.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 on Wednesday evening, January 6, 2106.
