Mr. Frank L. Norton

Augusta – Mr. Frank L. Norton, 88, beloved husband of the late Sarah Bedgood Norton, entered into rest on Friday, April 5, 2013, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013, with family receiving friends at 2:00 PM and the funeral service at 3:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Rich Bowen officiating. The immediate family will attend a private burial service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Norton joined the Navy in September 1942, at the age of 18, and proudly served his country in the South Pacific. He served aboard the USS LCI 605 and the USS Bountiful. Mr. Norton founded Norton Welding Supply in 1978.

Mr. Norton is survived by his children, Billy Norton (Lindy), Shirley Combs (Gary), Jean Armstrong (Bill), Debbie Vick (David), Sandra Norton, and Ricky Norton. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Trae, D.J., Ashley, Sonya, Ryan, Sarah, Rebecca, Wesley, Matthew, Wade and Brittney, as well as nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Bedgood Norton, and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Baker.

Pallbearers will be Eric Schlein, Sammy Turner, Mike Yohe, Stan Yohe, James McCray and Terry McMahan.
