Francis Ivey Miller

October 31, 1915 — January 3, 2018

Mrs. Francis Ivey Miller, 102, of Augusta, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Westview Cemetery in Thomson, GA., with Dr. Mike Cash and Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating.
Mrs. Miller was born October 31, 1915 in McDuffie County to Omer Glenn Ivey and Byrdie Cordelia Wall Ivey. She graduated from Thomson High School in 1933, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia State College for Women in 1937. She retired from the United States Government Office of Personnel Management after 25 years of service.
She was married to the late Charles Boyd Miller on September 3, 1946. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before he passed away in January 2010. He was the love of her life, and she faithfully served alongside him in his career with the Internal Revenue Service, which took them to Washington DC, Tallahassee, FL., Atlanta, GA., the US Embassy in Panama and Jamaica.
Before moving to Augusta, she was a long-time member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church where she served in the music ministry. When they moved to Augusta in 1992, they became members of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, where she was an active volunteer in the Music and Youth ministry. She faithfully served every Tuesday from 2002 until May 2017 in the church office.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Boyd Miller and her son, Charles Raney Miller. She is survived by several cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Youth and Music Ministries at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta GA., 30904.
The family and friends would like to thank the caregivers from Bright Star for their amazing love and care of Frances over these past six months, especially Patrice, Shokia, LaShaneake and Joyce.
