Frances Watson Sturgis

Evans, GA – Frances Watson Sturgis, loving wife of the late John Milledge Sturgis, entered into rest on Sunday, August 18, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Frances was born in Wilson, NC and was the only girl of nine children. She worked as a bookkeeper and timekeeper for the shipyard in Newport News, VA and later for Sturgis Optical in Augusta, GA, which was her husband’s business.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Sturgis Young and husband Samuel M. Young of Greensboro, GA, two grandsons, Samuel John Young of Seattle, WA, and Martin Bolan Young of Atlanta, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her parents, the late Marvin G. Watson and Mary Ida Renfrow Watson, and eight brothers, Ray, William (Bill), Gurney, Willard, Russell, Jack, Tommy, and Armed Watson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
