Augusta, GA---Mr. Eugene W. “Gene” Pinion, Sr., 84, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm tomorrow Friday, April 22, 2011 in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Reverend M. E. Stokes officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Pinion was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy and received the World War II Victory Medal and the Pacific Campaign Medal. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was employed with the Kendall Company, now Covidien, and retired after 21 years of service.
Mr. Pinion was a lifelong lover, of music and instilled that love, of music, in his children and grandchildren. He and the late Mrs. Pinion were avid volunteers at the Augusta Rescue Mission, where Mrs. Pinion was also employed.
Mr. Pinion had a true love, for life and for people and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Mrs. Dorothy Carden Pinion, his parents, one sister and five brothers.
Survivors include his sons, Eugene W. Pinion, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Richmond Hill, GA, Billy D. Pinion and wife Deborah of Augusta, GA, daughter, Brenda P. Zepp and husband, L. L. of Martinez, GA, brother, Fred W. Pinion, sisters, Juanita P. Taylor and Barbara P. Bush, all of Augusta, GA, six grandchildren, Kyle E. Pinion,

Kenneth T. Pinion, Jeremy B. Pinion, Jessica K. Pinion, Glen H. Zepp and Mark J. Zepp and 4 great grandchildren, Justin, Casey, Austin and Kaylie Zepp.
The family would like to express a very special Thank You to Mr. Pinion’s caregivers, Reba Stokes and Margaret Hawes.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kyle E. Pinion, Kenneth T. Pinion, Jeremy B. Pinion, Glen H. Zepp and Mark J. Zepp, also Mike Smith and Mike Johnson. His granddaughter, Jessica K. Pinion will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends this evening Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
