Eugene O'Connor Gene Cashin

North Augusta, SC – Mr. Eugene “Gene” O’Connor Cashin, 77, husband of Marcia Adams Cashin entered into rest on March 24, 2013 at University Hospital.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:15 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity with Rev. Jacek Szuster serving as celebrant. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Son of the late Louise O’Connor Cashin and Harry L. Cashin, Sr. of Augusta, Mr. Cashin was a graduate of Boys Catholic High School in Augusta and the University of Georgia where he was a cheerleader and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was employed at Lily Tulip Corporation. Mr. Cashin was a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity where he had served as a lector and an usher.

Mr. Cashin is survived by his wife of fifty years, Marcia Adams Cashin; his three daughters, Tana C. Heller (Rich) of Atlanta, GA, Kearney C. Hinson (Luke) of Jacksonville, FL, and Kate C. Cordell (Skip) of Kennesaw, GA; his seven grandchildren, Patrick Heller, Mary Grace Heller, Luke Hinson, V, Brock Hinson, Adelaide Hinson, Joseph Cordell, and Kathleen Cordell; his brother, Harry L. Cashin, Jr. (Peggy) of Atlanta, GA; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Adams of North Augusta; and many nieces and nephews.

A vigil for the deceased will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening, March 26, 2013 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel. The family will receive friends following the vigil service until 8:00 PM.
