Augusta, GA---Miss Emily V. Sell, 85, died peacefully Saturday, April 2, 2011, after a period of declining health.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Dallas, Georgia, at a date to be determined. Her ashes will be interred adjacent to her parents.
A native of Dallas, Georgia, Miss Sell was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mercer Brannon Sell, Sr. She was a graduate of Dallas High School and Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. During her adult life she was a resident of Augusta and was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital, serving as a laboratory technician and the administrating officer of the Laboratory Department. As a long-time member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, she was a regular volunteer and attended the Damren Sunday School Class. Most notably, she loved her family and friends, and particularly enjoyed her bridge club. Her smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Miss Sell was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Mercer Brannon Sell, Jr., and is survived by her sister-in-law, Ethel E. Sell, Augusta; a niece, Linda Susan Waldrop, Nashville, Tennessee; nephews, M. Brannon Sell III, Augusta; David M. Sell, Rochester, New York and many dear cousins.
The family would like to give its thanks to Janice Reid, Miss Sell’s dedicated and compassionate caregiver, for her devotion during the last several years of her life.
The family will receive friends, on Tuesday evening, April 12, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
