Evans, GA – Elizabeth Catherine Powers, 88, of 4275 Owens Rd., Brandon Wilde Colonnade Assisted Living, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Heart and Vascular Institute of University Hospital.

Born in Chelsea, MA on May 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Alice (Winott) Foley. Elizabeth was a graduate of St. Rose School, Higgins Business College, and later attended Essex Agricultural Technical College in Food Management. She worked for many years at the Elmhurst Retirement Home in Melrose, MA as a Dietary Cook Supervisor.

A resident of Peabody, MA for many years, Elizabeth moved to Georgia shortly after the death of her beloved husband, Ernest S. Powers, Sr. She was a member of St. Adelaide’s Church in West Peabody, MA and St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church in Augusta.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mabelle (Dr. Steven T.) Hackman of Evans, and Amy (Richard) Wilson of Shelby TWP, MI, two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Powers of Middleboro, MA, and Irmgard Powers of Belle Terre, NY, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Ernest S. Powers, Jr. of Middleboro, MA, and Frederick Dean Powers of Belle Terre, NY.

Elizabeth was the sister of the late James F. Foley, Jr., Frederick Foley, Robert Foley, and William Foley.

She was a very special person who dedicated her life to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at a later date in Boston, MA.
