Grovetown, GA---Mr. Edward “Son” Amerson, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am tomorrow Thursday, June 6, 2013 at West Acres Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Harmon, Reverend Denny Mack and Reverend Scott Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery.
Mr. Amerson was a native of Matthews, GA, but had been a resident of Richmond and Columbia Counties for more than 70 years. He attended Richmond Academy and served in the U. S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. He retired from International Paper, formerly Continental Can Company, after 37 years service. Mr. Amerson coached Little League Baseball, in Columbia County, for 10 years beginning in the 1960’s. He was Greenbrier High Schools “Number One Fan” and was a supporter since 1997. He was inducted into the Greenbrier Hall of Fame on May 22, 2012. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the West Acres Baptist Church and the Love Sunday School Class.
Mr. Amerson was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian Howard Amerson, mother, Willie Mae Prickett Crawford, 2 brothers, Frank Amerson, Eugene Amerson and a sister, Joyce Crawford Fitzpatrick.
He is survived by his wife, Donese K. Amerson, son, Michael Edward Amerson (Debbie), daughter, Sharon Amerson Garn (Bob), brothers, Ronnie Crawford (Mary), Harold Crawford (Sylvia), grandchildren, Jacob Edward Garn, Nathan Harrison Garn and Ashley Amerson Brisendine (Matthew), step children, Mark L. Partridge, Vick R. Partridge (Pam), Chris A. Partridge (Martha) and Tami Boyer (Mark), step grandchildren, Ronnie H. Partridge, Christopher J. Partridge, Anthony Boyer, Amber Lawrence (Alex), Amy P. Lee (Jack), Brittney Partridge, Heather Thornton and Lacy Boyer, step great grandchildren, Georgia Lawrence and Law Lawrence, Close personal friends, Derrell Postell and Jamie Newsome.
Pallbearers will be Derrell Postell, Jamie Newsome, Garrett Black, Kevin Hunt, Ed Williams and Scott Rodgers.
The family will receive friends this evening Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Platt’s Belair Road.
For those desiring, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, West Acres Baptist Church (His Story Building Fund) or the Greenbrier High School (Athletic Department).
