E.R. Hughes

Mr. E.R. Hughes, 76, beloved husband of 56 years of Edna Hughes, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 until 1:00.

E.R. was a superintendent of Augusta Ready Mix for 32 years. He was a deacon at Woodlawn Baptist Church and a member of the Believers Sunday school class. He formerly attended Grove Baptist where he also served as a deacon. A Mason for over 48 years, he was a member of Masonic Lodge #730, and was active in the Georgia Street Rod Association and the National Street Rod Association. His family will remember him as a wonderful husband and loving father.

In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by his daughter; Patti Hughes Coleman (Tommy), his grandchildren; Blaine Coleman and Brandi Coleman, his brothers; Don Hughes (Reba) and David Hughes (Joyce) and four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Hughes and a brother, Doyle Screws.

Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Woodlawn Baptist.
