Doris Chester Andrieni Mrs. Portka

Augusta, GA. - Mrs. Doris Chester Andrieni Portka, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel, in Evans, GA, with Father Lou Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Doris was born October 14, 1923 to the late William Columbus and Julia Meeks Chester of Wrightsville GA and was 1 of 12 children. After growing up in Johnson County she worked as a bookkeeper at Fort Gordon where she met her first husband Frederick Paul Andrieni, Sr. and they had 4 children. She will always be remembered for being a beloved Mother and was an active member of St. Mary’s on the Hill Catholic Church. Doris loved and was loved by everyone she came into contact with, and she enriched the lives of those who truly knew her.

Survivors include her sons Frederick P. Andrieni, Jr. (Wanda) and Robert W. Andrieni and daughter Dr. Julia Andrieni (Robert Phillips). Grandchildren are Kimberli Brown (Zachariah) and Kristopher Rodgers (Celeste) and Brittany Andrieni and 4 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are a brother Wesley C. Chester and sister Betty C. Carroll.

Mrs. Portka was preceded in death by her first husband of 38 years Frederick Paul Andrieni Sr. and her second husband of 20 years Andrew John Portka, and daughter Marie Andrieni Rodgers.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers Torica, Christina and Ruthie for their love and compassion in taking care of our mother.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 5, 2015 between 7:00 to 9:00pm at Platt’s Belair Road.
