Grovetown,GA. – Mr. David Roy Thompson Sr. age 70, husband of Mrs. Betty Thompson entered into rest at his residence on Thursday, September 24, 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009 in the Belair Rd. Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Martin and Pastor Richard Boyd officiating. Interment to follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather,brother and friend. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved coaching sports for the Columbia County Recreation Department, riding his Harley and spending time with his family and friends. He loved people and he would do whatever he could for those in need.

Survivors include, two sons, David R. Thompson Jr. and wife Dana of Evans, Darren E. Thompson of Grovetown, two daughters, Angela Thompson McIntosh and husband Barry of Tybee Island,GA., Cindy Cribb and husband Keith of Augusta. The childrens mother Marie Ellis. One brother, John Thompson of Martinez, the late Edward Thompson, William Thompson, Bennie Thompson and R.A. Thompson, four sisters, Annabelle Seago and her husband Terry of Hephzibah, Ruby Holley of Wrens, Bertha Jay and her husband Marion and Gladys Howard and her husband Roy of Augusta. The late Jean Burton, Lucille Thompson, Bessie Mae Thompson. Six grandchildren, William Eisele, Holly Eisele, Dustin Thompson, Daylee Thompson, Shelby Thompson, Isabella Thompson.

Pallbearers will be, Brian Thompson, Scottie Thompson, Mark Patterson, Dustin Thompson, Travis Thompson, William Eisele and James Kitchens.

Honorary Pallbearers, The Ronnie Paige Sunday School Class and Mr. Red Price.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
