Daniel Minor Perrow

September 22, 1935 — July 26, 2009

Augusta, GA - Daniel Minor Perrow departed from this life to be with his Lord on July 26, 2009.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Christ Church, Presbyterian (PCA) on Southern Pines Drive in Evans, with graveside service following at Westover Memorial Park.

Born on September 22, 1935, Dan is survived by son Daniel Minor Perrow II and wife Jennifer; daughter Elizabeth Perrow Wells and husband Bryan; grandchildren Jacob and Allison Perrow, and Whitney and James Wells. Additional survivors include his four siblings: Louise Perrow Johnson, John Timothy Perrow, Martha Jean Perrow, and James Frederick Perrow. Dan was preceded in death three years ago by his loving wife of 41 years, Jan Jenkins Perrow, and we rejoice that these two are reunited at last with their Lord and Savior.

Dan graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1953; he then served in the United States Army and went on to attend both Marshall College and Augusta College. He spent many years working for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Augusta, helping to improve housing conditions for countless Augusta families. He was a champion track and field hurdler, setting U.S. Army and West Virginia state records.

Dan was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Augusta, and a charter member of Christ Church, Presbyterian (PCA) in Evans. He was a highly respected church leader, serving in the roles of elder, deacon, and teacher; he also enjoyed singing in the church choir. Dan played an integral role in the planning and construction of Christ Church, taking an active role in all aspects of the church’s development. Dan’s generosity with his time, energy, talents, and finances was a testimony to all who knew him.

Dan was an amazing father and grandfather. Of utmost importance to him was passing on a legacy of faith in Jesus Christ to his children and grandchildren. He loved adventure, loved to laugh, had many friends, and lived his life as a testimony to his faith in Jesus Christ.

In the end, Dan did not lose his battle with cancer; rather, God was victorious over his cancer and pain, and He mercifully called Dan home in His perfect timing. We rejoice that Dan is now face to face with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he loved passionately and served joyfully throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Church, Presbyterian Choir Fund, 4201 Southern Pines Dr., Evans, GA 30809.

Visitation will be held at Platt’s Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009
