Bossier City, LA – Col. Clara Mary Bresnahan, United States Army Ret., 85, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Promise Hospital, Bossier City, LA.
Graveside services and internment will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10 AM with Deacon Ken Maleck officiating. Full military honors will be rendered, by the US Army Honors Team
The family will receive friends, at the graveside, following the services.
Col. Bresnahan graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy, trained to be a nurse in Washington DC and received a BS in nursing from Catholic University. She received a MS in management from Mississippi Southern. Col. Bresnahan served in World War II in Hawaii. She served as a nurse with Veterans Administration Hospitals for almost her entire military career retiring in 1965, and then went to work as a nurse with Willis Knight Hospital Systems retiring from there. During her military career she was with the 807th Medical Brigade Command Headquarters and was in charge of nursing for all Army Medical Reserve Units in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
She is survived by her brothers, Joseph E. Bresnahan and wife Rosa of Edisto Beach, South Carolina and James Bresnahan and wife Rosalie of Atlanta, Georgia along with several nieces and nephews.
