Calvin Joseph Mears

Calvin Joseph Mears, 67, entered into rest on January 22, 2022 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating.


Calvin was a kind and generous brother, father and grandfather. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He was funny and caring but mostly he always smiled and made everyone feel important.
He loved his family and would do anything for them, especially his older brother whom he happily cared for daily.

Calvin worked for many years at Montgomery Ward as a salesman and met many friends there and they always had something to laugh about when Calvin was around. He also was a licensed real estate salesman for several years and he literally could sell anything to anybody, not by being deceitful, but by being upfront and honest. For the past several years he worked for Trinity and now University Hospital’s emergency room staff. He especially enjoyed his coworkers and the time they spent together.

Mr. Mears is survived by his son, William Wesley Mears; his daughter, Susan Elizabeth Mears; his grandchildren, William Adli Mears and Abigail Simone Mears; his longtime partner, Faye Walker; his brother, Charles Francis Mears, III; his sisters, Christa Eremito (Tommy) and Cheri Yaeger (Ted); his aunt, Billie Easler Key; his uncle, Frank Mears; and by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mears was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Joseph Mears, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, January 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
