Brian Lemaster

ATLANTA, GA - Brian Lemaster, age 50, devoted and beloved husband of Leigh Reynolds Lemaster and father of Anna, William and Brantley, entered into eternal rest on October 31, 2013, at Hospice Atlanta after a courageous two-year battle with esophageal cancer.
Brian was born in Los Angeles, California in June of 1963, the only child of his parents. At age five, Brian’s family moved to Atlanta, where he attended the Atlanta Public Schools, starting with Morris Brandon Elementary School, then Sutton Middle School, and finally graduating from Northside High School in 1981. Brian then attended Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, after taking a year off to travel with the musical ensemble, Up With People. While at Vanderbilt, Brian was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He also played trumpet in the band and worked with the Vanderbilt radio station, WRVU.
After graduating from Vanderbilt, Brian returned to Atlanta to work in the IT industry. In 2006, Brian joined Norcross Supply Company, a family-owned cedar and cypress business, where he was employed at the time of his death.

Brian’s family was the greatest source of joy in his life. He once said that a person has his children for so few years, that after marrying at age 33, he wanted to spend as much time with them as he possibly could. To that end, Brian could be found sitting on the floor with his children playing games or putting a puzzle together; or in the yard playing football, baseball, soccer, or basketball, or simply giving them a push on the swings. His devotion to Leigh and the children included helping with anything inside the home — homework, preparing a meal, and reading a bedtime story. He always had time for each of his children, ending each night with prayers and hugs. Even in the hardest days of his illness, Brian attended as many of his children’s games and activities as his health allowed.

Brian and Leigh Anne Reynolds were married March 9, 1996, in Augusta, Georgia. Their daughter, Anna McElvey, was born in 1998; their son, William Ingram, in 2001; and their daughter, Sarah Brantley in 2004. He is survived by his three children and his devoted wife, Leigh. Additionally, he is survived by his mother, Anne B. Eldridge (Mrs. Robert S. Eldridge) of Atlanta: his mother- and father-in-law, Harriet and John Reynolds (Dr. and Mrs. John D. Reynolds III), of Augusta; his brother- and sister-in-law Kristin and John Reynolds IV (Mr. and Mrs. John D. Reynolds IV) of Bronxville, New York and their sons Charlie and Oliver. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Brian was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather. Brian was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and Cherokee Town and Country Club, and he served on the board of Buckhead Baseball.

Brian’s family is forever grateful to the many friends and relatives who so graciously supported them as they traveled on his cancer journey by bringing meals to the house and helping with the children in countless ways. The family is also grateful to those who gave of themselves by providing company for Brian in the hospital, at Hospice Atlanta, and at his home. Gratitude is also expressed to Hospice Atlanta and Brian’s entire medical team for their kind and professional care of Brian throughout his illness.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, 11 A.M., Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, 3180 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. The family will receive friends at Cherokee Town Club, 155 W. Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, immediately following the service until 2:30 P.M.
