Augusta, GA---Mrs. Betty Godbee Reese, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 16, 2011 in the Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home at 721 Crawford Avenue, Augusta with Dr. Michael L. Davenport and special friend, Rev. Greg Hatfield, presiding. Burial will follow at West View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of the service at the Funeral Home.
She was the beloved wife of Marion Hayward Reese Sr. for 62 years. She graduated from Tubman High School in 1948 and went on to be a medical transcriptionist. Mrs. Reese worked for various doctors over the years and retired from University Hospital after 23 years of service.
She was a current member of Pine View Baptist Church and a former member of Baker Woods Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church of Augusta.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her six children: Karen Reese Jones (K.C.), Marty Reese (Noreen) and Kathy Price of Augusta, Becky Spades (Sam) of Black Rock, AR, Mark Reese (Hollye) of Martinez and Keith Reese (Beverly) of Louisville, KY. She also has 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker Freeman Godbee and Nellie Coffield Godbee and her twin brother, William J. W. (Bill) Godbee.

We would like to express a special thank you to those at the NCA Grovetown dialysis center for the excellent care they gave her for the past 3 years.
She will be greatly missed, but fought the good fight and has now won the battle. We give praise to God.
