Bettie Carlino Hannon

Augusta Ga. – Mrs. Bettie B. Carlino Hannon, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Stevens Creek Community Church with Dr. Marty Baker officiating.

Mrs. Hannon attended the State Teacher’s College in Glassboro, New Jersey, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education in 1952. Mrs. Hannon went on to teach kindergarten for 25 years in Middlesex and Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. She had the honor of being published in the Who’s Who for Teachers during her career. She was also instrumental in forging the Head Start Program for Somerset County . Mrs. Hannon was very involved in the Martinsville Playhouse in Bridgewater where she acted in and directed many plays. She also was a Girl Scout leader, an avid reader, loved her Lord, and teaching Bible study. Her humor, love of life, and great wisdom will be remembered by all of us whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lawrence Hannon; her two daughters, Laurie Stair and Andrea Gregory, (Lawrence “Bubba”); a grandson, Jordan Gregory; her sisters, Jeanette Carlino “Cookie” Fletcher (Joseph) and Gracie Pritts; her nephews, Rob Pritts (Janine), Tim Pritts (Vivian), Marjana Garvin (Jack), Pamela Fletcher Andrews, Scott Fletcher (Char), Kelly Oberiener (Willie), Andrew Fletcher (Kendra); and 20 great grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her cousins Joe Scarbaci (Eleanor), Jeanette Ghidella; Dottie Harding (Bob), Benay Carlino, David Carlino (Adele), and Buddy Giacobbi (Selia).
