Ben Joseph Joey Brush, Jr.

Appling, GA – Mr. Ben Joseph “Joey” Brush, Jr., beloved husband of Cheryl Brush, entered into rest on Thursday May 7, 2015.

Services will be held on Monday May 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at The Sanctuary of Augusta, with Pastor Jarrod Adkins and Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Brush served two terms in the state House in 1992-93 and 1995-96. He became a member of the Georgia Senate in 1997 where he served as chairman of the Senate’s education committee. Mr. Brush was also a successful builder and developer. He was a member of Eleven Sixteen Church (formerly Bible Cathedral) which was founded by his parents. Mr. Brush loved riding his Harley Davidson, singing, and playing his bass guitar.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Brush is survived by his children, Benjamin Joseph (Marie) Brush III, Nicholas Brush, Corey Stewart (Tiffany) Brush, Casey Brush (Matthew) Magoulas; his step children, Mark (Ashlie) Templeton, Jr., Brandy (Greg) Schlein, Andrea (KorLee) Adams; his mother, Nancy Dufrene Brush; his sister, Cyndi Brush (Arturo) Barrera; and his grandchildren, Madison Lee Jarrell, Benjamin Joseph Brush, IV, Kobe McCormick Brush, Alexis Schlein, Kylie Schlein and Austin Adams.

Pallbearers will be Rob Blandenburg, Greg Schlein, Mark Custer, Scott Terry, Richard Hutchins, William “Billy” Black, Brad Colston, and David Custer. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of ABATE District 8.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday May 10, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
