Barbara Lee Kiser Burgamy

March 26, 1925 — December 2, 2013

Augusta, GA – Barbara Lee Kiser Burgamy, beloved wife of 48 years of the late Clyde Allen Burgamy, M.D., entered into rest on December 2, 2013 at her residence in Grovetown, GA.

A Service of Celebration will be held Thursday December 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Episcopal Church of Our Savior with Dr. John West and Rev. Lynn Prather officiating. A private graveside service will be held prior to the service.

Born March 26, 1925, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Barbara was the daughter and only child of George Marvin Kiser and Mary Anna Warren Kiser. Having lived in Spartanburg and Charleston, South Carolina, she came to Augusta with her parents in 1943, where her father accepted a position as one of the editors of the Augusta Chronicle.

In 1948, Barbara married Dr. Clyde Allen Burgamy and for many years was a familiar face in his medical office. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Evans, Georgia and previously a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta, Georgia, where she served as head of the altar guild.

She supported her husband in his profession in every way and was president of the Medical Auxiliary and a board member of the Augusta Y.

Barbara was instrumental in starting the Augusta Redding Foundation and was a member of the Augusta Country Club. She loved her church and her family, raising not only her children but several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Marvin Kiser and Mary Anna Warren Kiser, and her daughter Janet Burgamy Pace. She is survived by her daughters, Carole Burgamy Vaiden (Harry) of Augusta, and Cynthia Burgamy Rollosson of Grovetown; her beloved grandchildren, Allen S. Harison of Martinez, Georgia, Bates M. Harison (Heather) of Tacoma, Washington, Kurtis Allen Cambier Rollosson (Erica) of Cataula, Georgia, Senn Rollosson Atkins (Scott) of Augusta, Georgia, Chris S. Truluck (Kelsey) of Columbia, South Carolina, Nicholas C. Truluck of Grovetown, Georgia; her beloved great-grandchildren Jackson Rollosson, Campbell Elizabeth Harison and Harper Elizabeth Atkins and a special cousin, John O. Eubank (Barbara) of Nashville, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Kurtis Allen Cambier Rollosson, Allen S. Harison, Chris S. Truluck, Bates M. Harison, Nicholas C. Truluck, Scott Atkins, John O. Eubank.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Michael Whitlow and his nurse Doris, Dr. George Pursley, the Gentil Hospice Team, and also Debbie Emery.
