Antonio Farina

Evans, GA – Antonio Farina, 92, entered into rest on Thursday, April 25, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date.

Antonio was born on July 12, 1920 in Haverhill, MA and was one of seven children born to Italian immigrants from Calabria, Italy. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCCs) in the Berkshires in the late 1930s. Antonio proudly served 34 years in the U.S. Navy and was a decorated WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veteran. He spent most of his career in the Pacific Theatre. His passions were raising rabbits and gardening. Antonio loved to tell stories and visit with his many friends in the Ledyard area. He enjoyed wood working, giving haircuts to friends and family, and watching college and pro football.

Survivors include his wife, Sophia Yueh Chu Farina of Ledyard, CT, four children, Anthony Farina of Douglasville, GA, Kathy Carrasco and husband Claudio of Evans, GA, Tom Farina and wife Mindy of Fairport, NY, Paula Farina of San Diego, CA, six grandchildren, AJ, Meredith, Nicholas, Daniel, Tommy, Mikey, and three generations of nieces and nephews. Antonio was preceded in death by his father, Frank Farina, mother, Catherine Scalese Farina, siblings, Michael Farina, Joseph Farina, Albert Farina, Jenny Scalise, Mary Barron, and Angie Perry.
