Anne and Red Douglas were affectionately known to many as Mr. and Mrs. Golf of Augusta. For 45 years, many of Augusta youngsters developed their personal skills and character as junior golfers under the supervision of Anne and Red. On the 20th day of July, 1999, the Mayor of the City of Augusta issued a proclamation honoring the couple for their commitment and leadership to the Augusta community.

Anne will always be remembered as a generous, caring, and understanding friend as well as a driving force for public golf in Augusta. The junior golfers knew that they could depend on Anne and Red to always to be there for them. They viewed Anne as their second Mother at their home away from home. Her famous chili dogs will always be remembered as being the best meal they ever had.

She above all loved, provided, and cared for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were the light of her light.
