Allene W. Cleveland

Allene Whitmire Cleveland, 84, of Evans, GA went to be with Jesus on November 23, 2022. Allene was born on July 7, 1938 in Hart County, GA.

Allene graduated from the University of Georgia and taught math at Evans High School. When she started her family, she became a homemaker and co-owner of J.H. Cleveland Construction. Allene was known as Mom, Granny and Mrs. Cleveland.

Allene was a Christian that had a passion for serving others through missions and telling them about her faith in Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Warren Baptist Church.

As the first of five children, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Julian; parents, Rufus and Dora Whitmire and her younger brother, Perry Whitmire of Bowman, GA.

Survivors include her sons, Carter (Traci) Cleveland and Lowell (Julie) Cleveland of Evans; daughters, Laurie Cleveland of Hartwell, GA and Deidre Arnold of Tallapoosa, GA; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Billie) Whitmire and Alvin (Susan) Whitmire of Bowman, GA; sisters, Rosetta (Don) Hall of Carrollton, GA and Debbie Whitmire of Bowman, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to her loving caregivers, Mary and Dorothy.

Private services, officiated by Pastor Dr. David McKinley of Warren Baptist Church, will be held at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Allene’s honor to the Warren Baptist Global Missions Fund.
