Mr. Allen Floyd Baker

Evans, GA – Mr. Allen Floyd Baker entered into rest on Monday, November 16, 2009 at his home in Evans. Mr. Baker, age 90, was the husband of Nell McCullough Baker. The two recently celebrated their 69th anniversary on September 17, 2009

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Hester officiating. Mr. Baker will lie in state one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Allen was born in Newberry County, SC. He is the son of Cay and Essie Adams Baker. He has resided in Georgia since 1939. Allen was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, the Friendship Sunday School class where he served as Treasurer for many years and was also an inactive Deacon. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge 294, the Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star 193 in Millen, GA. Allen was an emeritus member of the York Rite, Scottish Rite in Augusta and also an emeritus member of Alee Temple in Savannah. He was an Amateur Radio Operator W4KWK and an avid NASCAR fan. Allen celebrated his 90th birthday on November 15th.

Additional family members and their wives are; son, Al and Karen Baker; grandsons, Gregory and Kari Baker, David and Charina Baker of Evans, and Richard Baker of Columbia, SC; great-granddaughters, Audrey and Larua Baker; great-grandsons, Jake and Luke Baker; sister, Mary Alice Trammel of Newberry, SC; and his brothers and their wives, Ralph and Mildred Baker, James and Jewel Baker of Newberry, SC.

His family and friends were blessed for knowing him and he will be missed.

Pallbearers will be Gregory Baker, Richard Baker, David Baker, Wally McCullough, Robert McCullough, Lewis Stewart, and Paul Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Friendship Class and Deacons of the Church.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, November 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
