Evans - Col. Adelbert E. Miller US Army (Ret), 94, husband of the late Eloise Roach Miller, entered into rest on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Brandon Wilde.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Westover Memorial Park with Chaplain Charles Trower officiating.

Colonel Miller was born in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Maryland and completed high school in 1935. He later graduated from Jacksonville State University and received a Master’s Degree from Boston University.

He entered military service in March 1942 and was commissioned in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps in 1944. He had numerous important positions during his military service and retired as a Colonel in July 1973 at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

Colonel Miller was president of the Huntsville, Alabama chapter of the Retired Officers Association, as well as president of the Alabama Council of Chapters of the Retired Officers Association. He was a member and chairman of the Military Retiree Advisory Council to the Commanding General, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. He holds the Legion of Merit and numerous other military awards and decorations.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Pippin of Columbia, SC, a son, Eric Miller of Evans, GA., his four grandchildren, Kelly Brasington, Michael Pippin, Eric Miller Jr., and Stephanie Miller, as well as three great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Eloise, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Miller.
