On Monday, July 14, 2025, Willow Mae Woodward-McGee entered the world in dramatic fashion at only 24 weeks, 1 day of gestation weighing 1 pound 1.6 oz and 11.81 inches long. With her parents, Brandy and William, by her side, Willow spent the next five weeks in the Wellstar-MCG Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Augusta, GA, fighting for her life, giving it her all, until she just couldn’t fight anymore. On the afternoon of Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by her parents and extended family, Willow took her final breath, knowing nothing but their love and embrace during her final hours on this side of Heaven.
Willow was preceded in death by her uncle, Scotty Matthews, and great-great grandfather, Kenneth Brown.
Willow is survived by her loving parents, Brandy Denise Woodward and William Joshua McGee of Evans, GA. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Shawn and Judy No Woodward of Augusta, Chuck and Toni Rushing of Evans, and Josh and Carol McGee of North Augusta, SC; her aunts and uncle, Kali Woodward of Americus, GA, Sage Woodward of Augusta, Kathryn Matthews and Dalton Robinson of Evans, and William Smith of North Augusta; her great-grandparents, Cindy and Steve Woodward of Flintstone, GA; Linda and Scott Baker of Augusta; and Judith McGee and Keith McGee, both of North Augusta; great aunts and uncles, Paul and Shannon Blanchard of Americus, Patrick and Jessica McGee of Evans, and Tyler McGee of Knoxville, TN; and numerous cousins and extended family members and friends.
The Woodard and McGee families would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the Wellstar-MCG NICU nurses, doctors, and staff for the care, kindness, and love shown to Willow, Brandy, and Will during their five weeks there. To the staff and volunteers of Ronald-McDonald House Charities of Augusta, thank you for providing housing, support, and meals to Brandy and Will during Willow’s hospital stay.
