William D. Houston

Evans, GA - William D. Houston, husband of 48 years to Billie Sells Houston, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Brennan Francois officiating.

William was born in New Rochelle, NY. Growing up, William excelled at rowing and eventually earned an athletic scholarship to Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. He married his wife, Billie Sells Houston, on June 5, 1965. William served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. He retired from Eastern Airlines after many years and later worked for the Augusta Chronicle in Mail Services. William continued to enjoy the sport of rowing and was affiliated with the Augusta Rowing Club. William was a self-taught painter and shared his paintings with many of his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, William S. Houston of Hollywood, FL., Patrick D. Houston of Corona, CA, one brother, Robert H. Houston of Carrollton, TX, two grandsons, Matthew D. Houston,11 and Troy P. Houston, 7, both of Corona, CA.
