Wayne Berryman

May 14, 1938 — August 20, 2021

Wayne Berryman, age 83, entered into rest on Friday, August 20, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19.

Wayne was born in Bowman, Georgia to the late Loyd Brooks Berryman and Bertie Ella Mae Spearman Berryman. An expert brick mason, Wayne, along with his friend Albert, ran a business of integrity and superior workmanship. The two men’s dedication to hard work and craftsmanship led to a lifelong friendship. When Wayne wasn’t hard at work or doting on his family, he could be found in the woods; holding a fishing pole; holding a winning hand of cards; being the proudest grandparent at his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities; or in front of the television watching the Dawgs, the Braves, or Nascar. And of course if the music was just right, he was never one to shy away from cutting a rug. Wayne was a lover of all things except tears, sorrow, and fussing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, L.B. Berryman (Martha); sister, Paulette Pickeren (Donald); and great nephew, Dustin Roberts.

Wayne was the daddy that every little girl should have- he is survived by his three daughters, Lavonda Hiott (Scott), Amanda Berryman Hollimon (Terrell), and Rhonda Berryman. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Dallton Deal (Nicollette), Madison Brooke Drummond, Jorrie Hiott, Mason Drummond, and Nathan Haley; brother, Gwinnette Berryman (Loretta); close friends, Janet English and Keith Barden; and several treasured nieces and nephews. Wayne is also survived by the love of his life, “Miss Mary” Fuller.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will take place at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2021in the Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road. Always one to enjoy telling a good story, his family will share their stories of life with Wayne. Reverend Andy Collins will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Platt’s Belair Road.

Wayne left explicit instructions for his home going. He wished to be cremated and scattered, at his favorite fishing spot at a later date to celebrate his amazing life.
