SFC (Ret) Warner Leigh Wish, 68, of Martinez, Georgia, passed away on June 3, 2026 in Augusta, Georgia. He fought brain cancer valiantly but is now at rest.

Warner was born in Burbank, California to Seymour and Hilda "Hindy” Wish on February 5, 1958. He grew up in the New York/New Jersey area. He went to high school in Manalapan, New Jersey and enlisted in the Army after graduation. He started as an x-ray technician and then went to George Washington University to get his associates degree in nuclear medicine which he practiced for the remaining military and civilian careers. He retired as lead technologist at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Warner was a proud veteran, served in the Gulf War, and completed 21 years of service in the Army reserves.

Warner was a dedicated soccer coach for both sons, a dive master/master diver, a volunteer with the dive rescue team where he especially liked helping the Paralyzed Veterans fishing tournament and volunteered at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. He and his wife enjoyed long distance cycling after they retired, went to Jazzercise several days a week, completed several half marathons to support breast cancer research, and he played racquetball several days a week. Besides the activities, his hobby was needlepoint, making Christmas stockings for family and friends as well as most of the pictures in the house.

Warner is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen; his son, Marshall (Juliana) and grandchildren Kayden, Lucas, Noelle, and Odin; his son, Kevin (Meghan) and grandchildren Wesley and Jillian (Klement).

The family is especially appreciative of the wonderful staff at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. The loving care he received will never be forgotten.

A funeral with military honors will be conducted at the National Cemetery, Fort Jackson, SC, at a date to be determined in July.
