Valerie Harkenrider

Mrs. Valerie Murray Harkenrider, beloved wife of William “Bill “ Harkenrider, entered into her heavenly rest on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the residence of her mother. 

 Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Bible Deliverance Temple. The officiant will be her brother, Rev. James C. Murray Jr. Burial will follow at West View Cemetery. 

 Valerie was born in Augusta. She graduated from George P. Butler High School and went on to attend the Georgia Institute of Cosmetology. She not only became a licensed cosmetologist, but also took the extra courses needed to earn her diploma as an educator. She used those teaching credentials to educate a whole generation of aspiring cosmetologists, and the love she had for her students was evident in the patience and encouragement she showed for them. She was a dedicated Christian woman and a faithful member of Bible Deliverance Temple, and will be missed by her family, friends and students.

 In addition to her husband, Bill Harkenrider, she is survived by her mother, Patricia Murray LaChance, her daughter, Brittany Raines, her stepdaughters, Burgundy and Auburn Harkenrider, her siblings, James C. Murray Jr. (Delores), Kim Murray Campbell (Jackie), Pamela Murray Teston (Jeff), and Sandy Murray Estilette (Mike) and her grandchildren, Caleb Raines, Logan Raines and Taryn Lee. She was preceded in death by her father, James C. Murray and her brother, Christopher Murray. 

 Pallbearers will be Adam Clyburn Jr., James C. Murray III, Johnny Lee Teston, Mike Estilette, Colby Moore and Adam Clyburn Sr.
