Tony DiGusto, age 76 entered into rest on Sunday, September 12, 2021 due to complications of agent orange.
Tony was a true old Chicago Italian and no one ever had to question where they stood with him. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam where he received numerous decorations including a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart. Tony used the skills and training he received in the Army to have a longstanding career with the former Flowers Foods as the head diesel mechanic. He enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical and his favorite pastime was fishing. Although Tony had a tough appearance, he had a heart of gold. He used his mechanical knowledge to help anyone in need and would even buy the parts needed to make the repairs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack DiGusto and Evelyn Menken DiGusto; sons, Michael DiGusto and Ronald Hopkins; sister, Dolores Malcheski; and his beloved dog, Ashley.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Inge DiGusto; children, Melissa Brown (Brian), Tony DiGusto, Jr. (Candice), Anita Roberts, Sabrina Schuler, and Trish Comstock (Randy); 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Tony loved all animals and he will be greatly missed by his pets, Shelby, Duke, Andy, and Candy.
