Thomas Arnold Haakinson

Thomas A. Haakinson, 78, of Martinez, Ga. passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025 in Augusta, Ga.

Thomas was born in Beloit, Wisconsin to Robert and Virginia Haakinson on Nov. 14, 1946. He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 1965. He married Lynne Jones on July 31, 1982 in St. Petersburg, Fl. Their wedding took place on a replica clipper ship in John’s Pass in St. Petersburg.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving in the US Army. He worked for GTE for 14 years as a telephone installer and repairman before serving as a Civil Servant for the US Army in the same capacity. He was a member of the Mobile Maintenance Team and traveled across the US, Puerto Rico, and Panama.

Thomas is preceded in death by Robert and Virginia Haakinson (parents), David Haakinson (brother), Terry Haakinson (brother), Dennis Clem (brother in-law), and Todd Jackson (nephew).

Thomas is survived by Lynne Haakinson (wife), Kyle Haakinson (son), his wife Jill, Chris Haakinson (son), Heather Bozeman (daughter), her husband Keith, Susan Clem (sister), Ashley Haakinson (Jimmy Hawk) (granddaughter), Kevin Haakinson (grandson), Laney Bozeman (granddaughter), Samual Bozeman (grandson), Olivia Bozeman (granddaughter), Aiden Hawk (great grandson), and Alexis Hawk (great granddaughter).

Special thanks to the staff at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave in his last months.
