Theresa Magreski Mays

Mrs. Theresa Mays, beloved wife of the late Fred W. Mays, entered into rest on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

She was born to John and Ila Magreski at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The military brought the family to Fort Gordon, and they made the Augusta area their home. She graduated from Harlem High School.

Theresa was employed by the Columbia County school system, where she was a bus driver for special needs children. Her patience, kindness and understanding led her to volunteer for the Special Olympics. She gave of her free time to bring comfort, encouragement and a sense of security to the children under her care. Her life is a beautiful reminder that true service comes from the heart, and her legacy will live on in every life she has touched.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Kay Killgore and Cheryl Brown (Roy), a sister, Francis Kost (Dennis), in addition to many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and her daughters, Eva Holbrook and Lyndia Dover.

Her services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Columbia County Special Olympics, 4781 Hereford Farm Road, Evans, GA 30809
