Sylvia Born Perry

Sylvia Born Perry (Jann), 77, of Evans, Ga, passed away on June 21, 2023 at home. She was a devoted wife, mother, and nana.

Jann was born in Atlanta, Ga. to James & Helen Born on September 10, 1945. She married George R. Perry, Jr. on July 18, 1963 in Atlanta, Ga.

She worked in retail sales for many years. She loved to sing in the church choir and with the Augusta Choral Society. She blessed us with many solo performances.

Jann attended West Acres Baptist Church and participated in several mission trips to include two missions at orphanages in China and one in Israel. While in Israel, she was baptized in the Jordan River. She was the recording secretary for the Ga. Power Ambassadors Club for many years.

Jann is preceded in death by her parents, James P. “Bubber” Born, Jr. and Helen C. Born; sister, Carolyn Robertson and two brothers, Ernest Born and Richard Born.

Jann is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, George R. Perry; daughter Sylvia Dennis; son James “Jimmy” Perry, grandchildren; Richard Thornton (Ashleigh), Stacey Thornton (Stephen), Sarah Dennis, and Allison Dennis, great-grandchildren; Skyler Wolfe, Kennedy Thornton, and Holley Wolfe, and sisters, Judith Born Gasaway and Susan Born Rigby (Greg). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be given to Trinity Home Health & Hospice Services in Augusta, Ga.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the hospice organization, and home health nurses for taking such compassionate care of our beloved wife, mother, and nana.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 on Friday June 23rd at Platt's Funeral Home Belair Rd Evans, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Saturday June 24th at West Acres Baptist Church on Gibbs Rd in Evans, Ga. with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating.
