Steven V. Wilder

May 13, 1947 — November 4, 2021

Steven V. Wilder joined our Lord and Father in heaven on Thursday November 4th with his loving wife, MaryAnn Olson and son, Josh Olson, by his side at University Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Steve was born May 13, 1947, in Racine, WI to Edward and Marcia Wilder where he was raised with his older brother and sister. After the death of his mother in the early 1960’s, his father joined their family together with Steve’s new stepmom Nina and her two children, Irene and Nicholai.

Steve loved the Lord and dedicated his life to serving and loving others. Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His fun-loving, playful nature, wit, and intelligence made Steve many, many friends and he was truly loved. He adored and was adored by his 6 children (Quinn Wilder of Milwaukee WI, Vince Olson of Grafton WI, Carisa Wilder of Ann Arbor, MI, Kiara Verhage of Oakland, CA, Josh Olson of Evans, GA and Zak Olson of Grand Junction, CO), their spouses, nieces/nephews and 11 beautiful grandchildren: Mikayla, Lydia, Peter, Tori, Luke, Leila, Anya, Matthew, Kayla, Iris and Saskia. Steve adored dogs and throughout his life had many but Tater and Pippi held his love until his death.

Steve was truly a renaissance man. He was equally at home gardening, teaching university level Geology, canning tomatoes from his garden, whipping up a delicious meal, building a garden shed or biking downtown to the YMCA for classes. He also had a profoundly spiritual love for music. He played several stringed instruments, was a singer his entire adult life and always enjoyed singing in church choirs.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Platts Funeral Home in Evans, GA tonight, November 8th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Baptist Church of Evans in Evans, GA on Tuesday, November 9th at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Garden City Chorus High School Music Scholarship Fund. Garden City Chorus, Augusta Chapter, 600 West Martintown Rd. North Augusta, SC 29841
