Steven "Steve" Wilhelm Burg, 60, of Evans, GA, husband of JoAnn Blair Burg, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 21st, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 2540 William Few Pkwy, Evans, on Tuesday, March 1 at 4:00pm with the Rev. Charlie Stakely officiating. The family will welcome guests at a reception following the service.
Steve was born April 22nd, 1961, in Gainesville, FL, to Dr. and Mrs. Hans and Betty Burg.
Steve’s dad was an endodontist in the US Army. Steve, his parents, and younger sister, Heidi, lived in 6 states, South Korea, and Germany over the course of Steve’s childhood. He graduated from Würzburg American High School in Würzburg, Germany in 1979. His family then moved to Augusta, GA in the summer of 1979.
He was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia, class of 1983, and went on to receive his MBA at Augusta College. He was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, serving honorably for four years prior to leaving service as a Captain. He then led a successful career in pharmaceutical sales and training before finally transitioning his passion for leadership development to work with the Ken Blanchard Companies, partnering with corporations across the globe to grow incredible leaders.
Steve married his beloved wife JoAnn on May 31st, 1986, in North Augusta, SC. They embarked on a 35-year marriage, leading them to ten different homes across five states and England. Along the way, they joyfully welcomed three children: two sons, Erik and Alex, and a daughter, Ashton. After moving to Evans in 2016, Steve and JoAnn made Redeemer Church their church home, with Steve serving as a deacon.
A devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Steve will always be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. He had an incredible ability to maintain genuine personal connections with those he knew. His family will forever miss his goofy and fun-loving nature.
Steve loved spending time with family and daily walks with his loyal golden retriever, Sam. He had a passion for travelling the country and the world, and his deep appreciation for its beauty can be seen in the photographs of his many adventures with JoAnn and his children. Steve loved working in his yard and created beautiful environments for all their homes. Steve shared a special bond with his son, Alex, supporting his love of sports through active involvement in the Special Olympics as a coach and volunteer.
Steve is survived by his wife JoAnn, sons Erik (Stephanie) and Alex, and daughter Ashton (Dean), his parents Hans and Betty, his sister Heidi Gondi (Gautham), as well as brothers-in-law John Blair (Angela), David Blair (Jill), Travis Blair (Julie), sister-in-law Becky Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Remembrances can be made in any form desired: contributions to Redeemer Church Missions Fund, Special Olympics of Georgia/Augusta Stars, or flowers.
