Steve Edward Smith was born in Louisville Georgia to Charlie and Susie Smith.
Steve leaves behind his wife of 40 years Petra Silvia along with three children – Ted W. (Nikki), Tracy Smith Gaynor, and Derrick S. (Victoria). Steve was also blessed with three grandchildren – Morgan, Holden, and Azalea. He is survived by his sister Glenda Carpenter.
Steve knew what his passions were from a very young age – his love of flying and his country. After receiving his Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he started teaching for Embry-Riddle in Germany where he was stationed. When he retired after 21 years of service with the US Army, he settled in Arizona working for Honeywell where he excelled once again and received his AlliedSignal Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification.
Once again, he found his way back to his roots with his love of horses, he has had since his childhood and spent many days perfecting the art of riding.
Whether he was in total control of Cobra’s, Huey’s, OH-58’s or a 1000 pound horse, he never stopped until he perfected his mission.
Steve has lived up to every role he has ever taken on to the fullest – Husband, father, brother, son and to his country with loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and courage.
- Well done soldier -
May you rest in peace knowing you made a genuine difference.
