Listen to Obituary

Ms. Stephanie Alnell Huguenin entered into rest on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at her residence. Stephanie suffered an extended illness acquired during her missionary work in India.

The family invites friends to West Acres Baptist Church on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 4:00. The funeral service will begin at 4:00, with the Rev. Larry Harmon and Rev. Malone Morris officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in the family cemetery at Roseland Plantation in Coosawhatchie, South Carolina.

She is survived by her parents, David L. and Deborah Postell Huguenin “Momma D”, her brother and sister in law, Patrick and Stacey Huguenin, and her nephews, Camden Calhoun Gantt, Thayer Reed Huguenin and Reynolds Abram Huguenin, all of Evans, GA. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alvin and Dot Postell, Frances Rice Huguenin and Edward P. Huguenin, Jr.

Stephanie, an Augusta native, was born on August 17, 1977. She graduated from Lakeside High School, where she was voted Miss Lakeside and Homecoming Queen. She was also active on the soccer team. She went on to attend the College of Charleston, where she graduated in 1999 with honors. While in Charleston, she was employed at Jenkins Orphanage. She enjoyed the children there and spent many nights with them. The week after her college graduation, she flew to India and volunteered to work in Mother Teresa’s orphanage for an extended period. She had a big heart and always had time for the less fortunate.

During her life, she traveled the world and settled in Manhattan, New York and worked there for 17 years. While there, she attended NYU and graduated with a Master of Arts degree. Upon her grandparents passing, she realized that life was short and moved back home to Augusta. She was employed at the Medical College of Georgia in the science and physics department. She loved working with the students. Stephanie was a life-long member of West Acres Baptist Church.

She was a devoted member of the Nature Conservancy, Low Country Land Trust, Coastal Conservation League, Long Leaf Alliance and Women in Defense. She loved reading, the outdoors and spending time in her yard and on the family farm in South Carolina.

During her life after traveling to India, she had been treated at Albert Einstein Hospital, the Mayo Clinic and Emory. She is now at peace and comforted by Jesus.

Please leave condolences in the online guestbook.
