Sam Wayne Thomas

Sam Wayne Thomas, entered into rest on December 14, 2020.
He was born on February 2, 1937 to Sam C. Thomas and Helen Rose Hammock. His sisters were Elaine Thomas Snider, Mary Jean Thomas Ramsey and Karen Thomas Reed . He was married to Judith Margaret Suzanne Dixson on June 19, 1982. He was devoted to his Texas family and his wife’s family. Sam served in the US Navy from 1955-1959 on the Ticonderoga. He worked in the oil fields, all around the world, until 1983. He trained as an HVAC mechanic, and his last job was with DoneRight Service, until this year. He never quit serving his customers with all his heart and skill. Many of those customers are now life long friends. He joined the Sons of the American Revolution and served the Columbia County Ballet as the giant in Ron and Kathleen Jones’ plays about the love of Christ. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church where he worked with the children’s ministry, sang in the choir and served as a cook for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast and for special events. Our Middleton and Sorrells Sunday school class has been a great source of fellowship and joy, each person special to him, each meeting uplifting, each year another to grow in the knowledge of the Lord. He was a prayer warrior and kept a running list of people for whom he prayed. Our pastoral staff have lifted us up and guided us with the Spirit of love and wisdom. We are so blessed to have had this time together on earth and to look forward to being together again in Heaven. Thanks to the Lord for sending his son, Jesus, to grant us salvation and the hope of eternal life, In His name, Amen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Chapel at Warren Baptist. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Gainsville,Texas.
