Ronnie Gibson Odell

Mr. Ronnie Gibson Odell, beloved husband of 53 years of Shirley, entered into rest on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his residence in Washington, Georgia.

The family invites friends to gather at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road for a visitation on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00.

Ronnie was born in Germany to Ronald Odell and Evelyn Miland Odell. As a military dependent, the family lived in many places before settling in Augusta, where he was on the varsity football team at Glenn Hills. He graduated from there in the class of 1972 and joined the Army soon after. He was honorably discharged in 1975 and started his career as a diesel mechanic.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his sons, Gene Odell (Jill), T.J. Odell (Melissa), Daniel Odell and Dean Odell, his brother, Larry Odell (Margaret), his sister, Laurie Mills, and his grandchildren, Skylar, Cru, Bentley, Blake, Austin, Brittany, Jackson, Olivia, Emma, McKenzie, Waylon and Gracie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Evelyn.
