Ronald G. Crowden was born into a military family at Fort Bragg, NC on April 14, 1948. He entered God’s kingdom on February 24th, 2024, after a prolonged battle with multiple medical issues. He was preceded in death by his parents COL Eugene E. Crowden, Jr and Bonnie J. Crowden.
One year after his birth, the family moved to Japan in 1949 and remained until 1952. This was just the beginning of a global adventure for him. During the 18 succeeding years, he and his family lived in Alaska, Panama and throughout the United States. He returned to the “Lower 48” from Alaska in 1966 and enrolled in Richmond Academy. In 1967, after graduating from Richmond Academy, he attended Purdue University, majoring in history, and graduated in the summer of 1971. He completed the Infantry Officer Basic training, Airborne and Ranger courses and was assigned to the famous 101st Airborne Division at Ft Campbell, KY. It was there that he met and married his wife of 50 years, Rachel Joiner. Together they raised four children: Daniel, Bryan, Lana, and Jason. The family spent three years in Germany before returning to Ft. Benning, Ga. After 20 years of service to the country and retiring with the rank of Major, he retired and assumed the position of Fleet Manager for Richmond County. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with Richmond County; but more importantly, the people he worked with during his tenure.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel, their three sons, Daniel (Suzette), Bryan (Dana) and Jason (Rebekah) and their daughter, Lana (Ken). He is also survived by his older brother, Gary (Maggie) and younger sister, Vicki. He is also survived by many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Ronald G. Crowden had a passion for helping his family, friends, and colleagues. He will be missed!!
