Rodney Dane Jackson, 77, passed at his residence April 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 55 years, Trudy Dianne Waller Jackson. Survivors included a sister Constance Fink and two nephews, Jeff, and Joe.
Born, raised, and educated in Grovetown area of Columbia County, graduating from Evans High School in 1964. He received a degree in Business Technology Major and Management from Aiken Tech. His primary career was in Television production with local TV Stations and with the United States Army at Fort Gordon (Eisenhower) which included time in Germany.
Rod joined the USMC Reserves Transport Co. in Augusta, rising to Staff Sergeant when he was Honorably Discharged November 1995. This service instilled his love of and for God and Country in his heart.
To say he was a unique character is the only way to try and describe him. For whatever reason known only to him, Rod received accolades from former governors of Georgia and Alabama, and US Senators. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 710, a private single engine pilot instructor teaching future pilots, including several local business leaders to fly. He also enjoyed flying over the highways and talking with truckers on CB radios. In addition to flying, he was a ham radio fanatic chatting with people all over the world. Another hobby & passion he had was firearms and sport shooting.
A gathering of friends will be at 3:00 PM June 5, 2024, in the chapel of Wesley United Methodist Church 825 N. Belair Road, Evans, Georgia, Pastor Scott Harris officiating.
