Robert J. Hornak, July 24, 1950 - April 21, 2026, of Grovetown, GA and formerly of South Daytona, FL, Lawrenceville NJ, and Hazlet NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Grace and John Hornak.
Bob was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Christine Locatelli, in 2011. Bob is survived by his son Robert W. Hornak, daughter Dr. Beth Anne Flack, son-in-law Kenneth Tyree Flack, granddaughters Mary Elizabeth Grace, Lilly Isabella Anne, Katheryn Iris Marie, and grandson Tyree John Lux.
Bob attended parochial school in Brooklyn and Staten Island and graduated from Augustinian Academy and St. Bonaventure University with a degree in sociology. After becoming employed with Korvettes in Staten Island and downtown Brooklyn on Fulton Street, Bob moved to New Jersey, left Korvettes and became employed with Brentano’s bookstore in Manhattan as Corporate Director of Operations where he met his late wife Chris, the HR Director. After moving to Manhattan, Bob joined Brooksmith Associates as Director of Software Installations. Following a two-year self-employed I.T. consulting role in Pittsburgh, he joined Garon Products in Ocean, NJ, as Corporate I.T. Director and moved back to New Jersey.
Marrying Chris in Las Vegas in 1987, they both retired in 2001 and enjoyed traveling, experiencing cuisine and world-class beverages for 10 years. Bob and Chris moved to Lawrenceville, NJ, and snow-birded in Port Orange, FL. After completing his Florida security licensing requirements, Bob had various assignments at the Securitas Agency. In 2012, Bob moved to South Daytona, FL. Bob most recently enjoyed volunteering at AdventHealth Daytona Beach hospital where he proudly served in various positions since 2013. He also served as the last president of the Auxiliary until dissolving the Corporation in 2021, during which time he was part of a mission team which constructed a church in the Dominican Republic and traveled with the hospital chaplain’s group to Israel to travel the Holy Land. He continued to enjoy traveling, bicycling, and tent camping until he moved in with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in 2023.
