Robert Lee Duckworth, Jr., known to his loved ones as R.L., passed away on January 4, 2024, at the age of 85 in Augusta, Georgia.
Born on July 5, 1938, in Tifton, GA, Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Robert had a fun-loving personality and was known for his passion for football. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and sharing his excitement with others. He had a warm and welcoming nature that endeared him to everyone he met.
In his professional life, Robert dedicated himself to the art of barbering. He spent most of his life honing his skills and serving his community with a steady hand and a friendly smile. His commitment to his craft and his ability to connect with people made him a trusted and cherished presence in his barbershop & community.
Outside of work, Robert found joy in his hobbies. He had a beautiful singing voice and loved to share his talent through gospel music. His performances with The Trinity Trio were a source of inspiration for all who listened, and his testimony through music touched the hearts of many. Robert's faith was an important part of his life, and he found solace and community at Trinity Baptist Church in Martinez, GA. It was a place where he could worship, find support, and connect with others who shared his beliefs.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Duckworth, their seven children, twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters who will forever cherish their memories together. Robert was preceded in death by two of his children, his younger brother & both of his parents.
In his 85 years of life, Robert Lee Duckworth, Jr. made a lasting impact on those around him. His love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his passion for music will be remembered and cherished by all. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 2pm at Trinity Baptist Church - Martinez. The family will receive guests from 12-2pm. Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
