MSG Rickey Wayne Roberts Sr., (US Army Ret.), beloved husband of Shirley Allen Roberts,
entered into rest on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
.A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home, Belair Road on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Rickey was born in Eupora, Mississippi to Henry and Nora Roberts. He joined the US Army at the age of 17 and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant earning a Bronze Star Medal among other honors. He retired after 21 years of dedicated service. His strong work ethic led him to a second career as a team leader at Procter and Gamble, where he worked for 26 years. He was an avid sportsman, animal lover, and a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, and he proudly held membership in the Firearms Policy Coalition and the Second Amendment Foundation.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his children, Lesa Crawford, Kesha
Crawford-Jackson, Yvette Roberts, Rickey Roberts Jr. and Nicola Roberts, and his
grandchildren, Diondré Roberts, Rickey Roberts III, Christian Roberts, Joel Roberts, Kaleb
Jackson and Layla Roberts. He is also survived by a brother, Brian Edwards and a host of
cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nora, his brothers, Joe Henry, Jackie,
Daniel, Paul, and James Roberts, and his sisters, Mary Jamerson and Lois Shaw.
