Richard Howe Miller, 85, of Grovetown, entered into Heaven on June 5th, 2026 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Richard was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Charles and Cecil Miller on January 25th, 1941. He married Wilma Marlene Miller on August 23rd, 1969 in Lodi, Ohio.
He served one tour in Korea and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army for 22 years. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (5 campaigns), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, 4 Overseas Service Stripes, Vietnam Civil Action Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He retired from the Army in November 1980 and worked for Pepsi Cola as a truck mechanic. Once he was retired, he continued to work as a handyman for anyone who needed him. He loved to help others in any way that he could.
Richard was a huge Ohio State football fan. He was involved in the United Methodist Men organization and was an involved member of Grovetown United Methodist Church. Richard was a devout Christian who spread the gospel with others any chance that he could.
Richard loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife: Wilma Miller, siblings: Kathy Evans, Debbie McGhee, Bruce Miller, children: Jim Miller, (Gina), Tracy Genova, grandchildren: Katie Stafford (Zachary), Samantha Clary (Brice), Santino Genova, Jimmy Miller, Jordan Miller, his great-granddaughters: Percie Clary, and Zoey Clary, along with a multitude of extended nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The honorary pall bearers are Jim Miller, Zachary Stafford, Santino Genova, Brice Clary, Jimmy Miller, and Leonard James.
The family of Richard Miller wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the Enhabit Home Health Hospice team.
Visitation will be at 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Monday June 8, 2026 at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road in Evans, Georgia.
Funeral services will be private.
