Richard Eugene Bailey

Richard Eugene Bailey entered into rest on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the age of 80, due to medical complications. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Carole Christian Bailey, his son Kenneth Richard Bailey, his parents John Artice Bailey and Annie Bell Bailey, and his siblings Charlie Wayne Bailey and Vera Joyce Whitener. He is survived by his wife Frances E. Bailey of 11 years, his 2 children, Kimberly Carole Vaughn and Keith Brian Davis, Sr, his 6 grandchildren; Keith Brian Davis Jr., Mandy Ortez, Matt Vaughn, Madison Floyd, Morgan Vaughn, Miles Vaughn, and 2 great-grandchildren.

After his graduation from Hephzibah High School, he attended technical school, studying electronics. He was an Army veteran and won the Bronze star for his heroism in the battlefield in Vietnam (1969 – 70).

Mr. Bailey was a successful businessman. He began Augusta Scale for local services. Over the years, he developed many contracts in Georgia and South Carolina, and renamed his business Scale South. He retired in 2019.

Mr. Bailey was also a generous man, donating to Piedmont Hospital (formerly University) Kidney Transplant Department. He also donated to St. Jude Hospital and numerous other charities.

Funeral service and viewing will be at Platt’s Funeral Home at 337 North Belair Road Evans, Georgia 30809. The viewing will be at 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2025 with the service following. The burial will be private with family members only at Westover Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please donate to the Kidney Department at Piedmont Hospital in honor of Richard Bailey.
